What the Latino Caucus Is

The Latino Caucus in Political Science or Sector Latino de Ciencia Política was established to both promote and protect the professional development and well-being of Latinas/as in political science and those interested in the study of Latino politics.  Founded on September 4, 1998 at the annual meeting of the American Political Science Association (APSA), the Latino Caucus is an officially recognized Related Group of the APSA.  If you are interested in seeing the caucus' bylaws, click here.

What the Caucus Does

The Caucus currently sponsors scholarly panels and roundtables on various Latino topics at the APSA annual meeting and it co-hosts an annual Latino politics workshop at the annual meeting of the Western Political Science Association.  Other activities of the Caucus include the Latino Outreach Program (also known as the Latino Roadshow), the creation and maintenance of this website and the presentation of an award for the best paper in Latino politics presented at each APSA meeting.  All these activities are designed to support, recruit and retain more Latino/a political scientists.
